The Nadathur Group and Biomimicry Innovation Lab are investigating the research landscape in the UK, whilst exploring the challenges faced with getting research out of the universities and the development of new companies or collaborating with industrial partners to create new products.

This work is ongoing and we are speaking with as many academics and industry partners as possible. You can access our survey on Typeform here. If you would rather just talk to us, then please book a 20-minute slot so we can understand more about your work.

We are seeking the challenges faced with commercializing research, what gaps are there in the funding landscape and challenges of collaboration.

It has become apparent from our research that what is required is more than funding, but places to share new ideas, meet collaborators and test out business models. From this, we are exploring the development of a network, accelerators and events to bring together people from diverse backgrounds.

After months of research, we have identified over 1500 academics in the UK and 100+ research labs/clusters. The summary map on Kumu gives an overview of the fields of research by field and topic. Those research nodes that connect more than one discipline are naturally more inclined for collaboration and require a multi-disciplinary approach.

This will feed into our market report that we will be launching soon.

Please get in contact if you would like to discuss this further.
