2021 - A Year in Review

As we look back on another eventful year around the world, we are grateful for all of the fantastic organisations we have had the chance to work with this year.

Some of our clients and collaborators in 2021

The year ends with the final touches to our report with the Nadathur Group as we explore the State of Nature-inspired Innovation in the UK.

It has seen us speak at events across the UK and Europe with notable public speaking assignments with Woolmark (alongside Helly Hansen and On Running), additive manufacturing for GMIS at the Dubai Expo 2020, and cosmetics at the Bio Asia Pacific Conference in Thailand.

We enjoyed being part of the GIZ working group on Circular Economy and the Plastics Value Chain, which will be presented to the G7/G20.

We've written two book reviews for Zygote Quarterly and are working on a book chapter with Michael Pawlyn for the Institution of Civil Engineers on next-generation infrastructure, focusing on circularity and biomimicry.

Outside of the UK, we are working with academic and industries partners in India and Madagascar to develop novel solutions for sustainable small-scale fisheries, harnessing pine-leaf litter for energy generation and biodiversity. The Frontiers grants from the Royal Academy of Engineering has made these possible.

Closer to home, we ran events with Good Food York at York Environment Week and collaborated with Bemuse drinks during York Design Week.

Our focus is still on manufacturing, agriculture and cities. Get in touch if you would like to discuss how we can meet your needs. You can schedule a meeting here.

From all of us at Biomimicry Innovation Lab, I wish you a safe and restful Christmas and New Year. Let’s hope for some light at the end of the tunnel, and hope for a safe future.

We would love to see your logo on this wall next year. Let’s have a chat!
